$50,000 Powerball Winner Sold in Hyattsville as Jackpot Roll Continues

The Powerball jackpot jumped to an estimated $421 million after no one matched all five white balls and the Power Ball in the Monday, Oct. 10 drawing. Five players across the country got close, matching all five white balls for a $1 million second-tier prize, and 47 players — including one from Maryland — won $50,000 third-tier prizes.

Check your tickets from Monday’s drawing, to see if you are one of the 13,091 people who bought winning tickets in Maryland, with prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000. The $50,000-winning ticket was purchased in Prince George’s County at Kenilworth Sunoco, located at 4836 Kenilworth Avenue in Hyattsville.

The winning numbers to match were 3, 6, 11, 17 and 22; the Powerball was 11 and the Power Play multiplier was x2. The estimated cash option for the $421 million jackpot is $215.7 million. The drawing takes place Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. They get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

The Powerball jackpot was last hit in the Aug. 3 drawing on a ticket sold in Pennsylvania worth $206.9 million. Maryland is home to three Powerball jackpot wins: $731.1 million in January 2021 (Lonaconing, Allegany County); $128.8 million in December 2011 (Elkton, Cecil County) and $108.8 million in September 2011 (Abingdon, Harford County). This year, including, the state has sold two $2 million second-tier winning tickets, three $1 million second-tier winning tickets, 47 third-tier winning tickets and four Double Play third-tier winning tickets.
