$50,000 FAST PLAY Prize a Choice Cut For Glen Burnie Butcher

A Glen Burnie butcher got a major surprise recently when a casual lottery purchase turned into a $50,000 payday.

The Anne Arundel County resident, who said he plays Lottery games weekly, stopped by Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim his prize from the FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier game, and to share the story behind his lucky win.

The winning moment came after he found a $20 bill and decided to spend it on a few scratch-offs and a FAST PLAY ticket. The scratch-offs didn’t yield any prizes, but the Mega Multiplier ticket quickly made up for it.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw $50,000,” he said. “That ticket made me feel lucky in a way I never have before.”

The win marks the biggest prize the Glen Burnie resident has ever claimed. He credits his late grandmother for sparking his interest in the Lottery.

“She always had a few tickets in her purse,” he shared, adding that he started playing Lottery games himself after he turned 18 and was old enough to buy tickets.

For now, the butcher is keeping his big news mostly under wraps. He plans to celebrate quietly with a new tattoo and tuck the rest of his winnings into savings.

“Winning like this just reminds me why I enjoy playing,” he said.

The winning ticket was sold at Luckies Market at 7713 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie. The $10 Mega Multiplier game went on sale in April 2023, and as of June 24 there are 24 of the game’s $100,000 top prizes still waiting to be won, along with 12 more $50,000 prizes, 24 prizes of $20,000, 23 prizes of $10,000 and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
