Lucky Feeling Proves Genuine and Brings $31,670 Racetrax Win

A Baltimore man experienced a phenomenon earlier this week that many have heard of, but too few ever encounter: a lucky feeling that turns out to be genuine. He’s an occasional Maryland Lottery player, but the feeling prompted him to buy a Racetrax ticket that very day. The $31,670 prize that resulted might make belief in “lucky feelings” seem like more than mere superstition to non-believers.

“This is the second time it’s happened,” the HVAC technician said Aug. 13 after claiming his winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “Five or six years ago it was a different kind of feeling, but it was memorable enough that I bought a scratch-off and won big.”

These days the Baltimore City resident is a Racetrax fan. When deciding which horses to pick, he explained that he watches to see what numbers have not been winning and chooses among them. “I’ve had pretty good luck this way.”

Halfway through the race, he was about to give up, lamenting that while two of his horses were in the lead, the third was at the back of the pack.

“When I looked back up at the screen, my #12 horse was really gaining ground. You should have heard me yelling at him to keep it up.”

The other Racetrax players at Speedy Convenience on Aug. 12 who had been staring at him as he loudly cheered on ol’ #12, were all smiles when he announced he’d won. His $6 trifecta box wager delivered a $31,670 payday.

Speedy Convenience Store at 7101 Darlington Drive in Baltimore receives a bonus of $316.70 for selling the winning ticket.
