A Silver Spring man went to put gas in his car during a round of driving for a food delivery app and decided to try his luck playing scratch-offs. He ended up buying $46 worth, and one was a winner for $100,000.
He got his gas and tickets at the Shell station at 4101 Aspen Hill Road in Rockville. The Montgomery County native enjoys other Maryland Lottery games, including Pick 3 and Pick 4, but he is especially fond of crossword-themed scratch-off games. His win came on the $10 ticket $100,000 Crossword 9th Edition.
Before he got back to delivering food, he took a little break, sat in his car, and scratched his tickets. He said that he thought he was going to pass out after his scratching revealing one of the tickets to be a big winner. Between puzzles two and three on the winning ticket, he was able to match 10 words for the $100,000 top-prize.
Immediately after learning of his big win, he called family and friends to share the news. He says he’s going to use his winnings to square his finances and put the rest in savings. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking.
