A Prince George’s County woman had to do some good old scratching to figure out she was a $50,000 winner on the Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition scratch-off.
When she first got the ticket, she scratched only the prize check and then scanned it using the MD Lottery app on her phone and received a message “Go to Lottery.” She was confused by the message and she tried entering her ticket into her My Lottery Rewards account as a non-winner, but the ticket was not accepted, as is the case with winning scratch-offs.
“That was strange,” the federal employee recalled saying to herself. She related her story when she claimed the prize Jan. 8 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Confused by not being to enter the ticket into her Rewards account, she decided to get out a scratcher and play the game from the start.
“I went back one by one to see if I missed something. I went very slowly,” she said with a smile.
She looked at her ticket and realized she had received a four-corner win for $5,000 on one of the game’s cards.
The winning was not over, however, as her ticket revealed a 10X multiplier that sent her prize to $50,000. After claiming, she said she recalls feeling stunned. She plans on using the prize to pay off her car and will save the rest.
She bought the ticket at Kim Liquors at 3223 Brinkley Road in Temple Hills.
The second edition of Bonus Bingo X20 game went on sale last February with five top prizes $500,000. Three of those top prizes remain unclaimed. This is the third $50,000 winner, but another four at this level remain unclaimed, along with prizes ranging from $20 to $10,000.
