Home renovations in the plans after claiming Bonus Bingo X20 prize
After more than 20 years of playing Lottery games like Powerball, Multi-Match, and Mega Millions, a Howard County woman took home her biggest prize yet on a $20 scratch-off ticket.
Our anonymous winner, who goes by Jean, has always enjoyed the excitement and entertainment of playing the Lottery. Recently, she’s taken a special interest in scratch-offs for the fun they bring, and that hobby paid off in a major way when she won a $50,000 prize on a Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition scratch-off ticket.
Jean has won smaller amounts over the years, including a $2,000 prize several years ago. But, this is by far her largest win. She purchased the lucky ticket at the Royal Farms at 742 South Philadelphia Blvd. in Aberdeen.
Jean shared how her big win unfolded: after winning $40 on a previous game, she used that money to buy two Bonus Bingo X20 tickets. The first was not a winner, but when she scanned the second ticket, the message “Take ticket to Lottery” appeared — something she had never seen before. Unsure what it meant, she asked the retailer to check it. Though they confirmed she was a winner, she didn’t find out the amount.
Curious and excited, Jean went home and finished scratching the ticket, at first thinking she had won just $10. When she returned to the store to confirm, she was stunned to learn her prize was actually $50,000.
“I consider myself lucky that someone didn’t buy those other two tickets — they’d be here instead of me,” Jean said with a smile.
Since her win, Jean has only shared the news with close family members. When asked about her plans for the prize money, she said she intends to make home renovations that will make life easier as she gets older.
Despite the big win, Jean plans to keep playing for fun, hoping for another lucky break in the near future. “I’m just so thankful to have won,” she said.
