Baltimore Healthcare Worker Wins $25,000 on Free Pick 5 Ticket

Lucky player benefits from Try Pick 5 promotion

When it comes to the Pick games, a 36-year-old Baltimore City woman is a huge fan who plays often. Her love for the games went up a notch after she won a $25,000 prize on a free Pick 5 ticket that she received as part of the Try Pick 5 promotion. The promotion delivers a free Pick 5 quick-pick ticket at random to those who purchase draw games.

“It’s just unbelievable, winning this much on a free ticket,” said the lucky woman.

The nursing assistant said she was running errands last week when she stopped at Red Dot Liquors to purchase Pick games for the May 18 midday drawing. She won a free 50-cent straight Pick 5 ticket, which she put with her other tickets before leaving the Baltimore County store for home. Days later, the lucky player checked her games.

“I scanned it several times before I believed it was a winner,” she said of the lucky ticket. “I play because my mom plays, so I called her immediately after seeing I won.”

The big winner FaceTimed her mother to show her the ticket and the winning message on her Lottery app. Her mom then looked up the winning numbers for the drawing on the Lottery’s website.

“My mom was so surprised,” said the winner, smiling. The single mother of one shared with Lottery officials that most of the prize will go into her savings and she also planned to take her son shopping.

For its role in the big win, Red Dot Liquors located at 7408 Windsor Mill Road in Baltimore will receive a $250 bonus from the Lottery.
