Baltimore Pick 5 Novice Wins $25,000 in Sept. 4 Drawing

50-cent straight bet delivers big prize

A very lucky Baltimore scratch-off fan who decided to take a chance on Pick 5 scored a $25,000 prize on her first ticket purchase.

The 48-year-old bought her 50-cent straight bet ticket from M&M Lounge located at 2500 East Biddle Street in Baltimore. While trying to think of numbers to play, the Pick 5 novice recalled that a friend of her husband has a car that’s out of commission so she put the vehicle to good use. She played the numbers from the car’s license plate in the Sept. 4 evening drawing and went on her way.

She didn’t check the ticket until the next day after her husband reminded her to do so. The winning wife was astonished to see her $25,000 prize but hid her excitement until she arrived at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. In fact, she hasn’t shared the great news with anyone, not even her husband of 15 years! The lucky lady told Lottery officials that she planned to tell him about the big win as soon as she returned to her car.

The Baltimore City resident works as a medical office coordinator and does cosmetology on the side. When asked of her plans for the windfall, the winner said she and her husband will take a much-needed vacation and then save the rest of the prize.

Her lucky retailer, M&M Lounge, is also a winner. The business will receive a $250 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Pick 5 ticket worth $25,000.
