Baltimore Player Paves His Way to $25,000 Prize

Free Pick 5 ticket delivers his biggest prize ever

A Baltimore City resident who builds roads during the week and plays the Lottery on weekends was lucky enough to receive a free Pick 5 ticket last week. Even though other games he played Friday, Saturday and Sunday yielded no winners, Lottery luck came through on that free ticket with a $25,000 prize in the May 26 Pick 5 evening drawing.

The asphalt specialist tells us that he was a little surprised when his bonus Pick 5 ticket appeared unexpectedly and a lot surprised when the $25,000 prize did. “It was nice to get that ticket, but I didn’t expect too much of it. I’d never have guessed that it would turn into this!”

The free Pick 5 ticket was courtesy of the Lottery’s Try Pick 5 promotion. Through June 5, players who purchase any Lottery game other than scratch-offs could receive a randomly awarded free 50-cent straight quick-pick Pick 5 ticket.

“I did a double-take when I scanned it on my Lottery App,” the 63-year-old city resident told Lottery officials. “I said, ‘Wow,’ and then did another double-take.”

Check Cash Depot at 4127 Patterson Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $250 bonus from the Lottery for its role in helping to surprise our Baltimore road builder with the $25,000 prize. The happy winner has no immediate plans for his Pick 5 prize.
