Shocked to see her lucky numbers appeared on May 1
Winning feels good, whether you know it instantly or a few weeks after buying a Maryland Lottery Pick 5 ticket.
A Baltimore woman who likes to play Pick 5 said she checks her tickets every few weeks. She built up a stack of unchecked Pick 5 tickets this month and finally got around to checking them for a win. The loyal player was shocked when she scanned her ticket using the Lottery app on her phone and saw “$50,000” appear on the screen. Her lucky ticket for the midday and evening May 1 drawings had delivered a win that evening. She told Lottery officials that she has played the same number — 21083 — every other day for months.
“I didn’t know I won until a couple of weeks later,” she said with a smile.
The security worker purchased a $2 straight ticket for the two drawings at 4 Corners Wine & Liquor in Langley Park to secure the $50,000 prize. She added that she is still mentally processing her win and is undecided on how she will spend her prize. Even though she won a five-figure fortune, the lucky lady said she is not finished playing Lottery games.
“I wish it was a few more zeros so I can retire,” she said of her prize.
Her lucky Lottery retailer is located at 8038 New Hampshire Avenue. The Prince George’s County business will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000-winning ticket.
