Baltimore Woman’s Good Feeling Leads to $20,000 Scratch-off Win

Ravens X2 game’s top prize to help new home search

She plays “once in a blue moon,” a 21-year-old Baltimore woman told Lottery officials. Buying an instant ticket rarely occurs to her, she said, unless something unusual compels her. She credits the “good feeling” she experienced upon awakening one day last week for her $20,000 top-prize Ravens X2 win.

“It’s difficult to explain,” she said. “I just felt really good that morning, somehow better, somehow different from other days.” Deciding that it might be a sign, she stopped by Wegmans #47 to buy Lottery scratch-offs. “It was on my way to work, and I figured – what the heck?” Picking out four of the $2 Ravens X2 instant tickets, she returned to her car.

“My mom happened to call me at the very moment I was scratching the tickets in the parking lot.” The first three were non-winners, but that fourth scratch-off produced a noteworthy pause in the mother-daughter conversation. When she was finally able to tell her mom what had happened, our winner read aloud the game rules so her mom could help determine if she really won. “It just didn’t compute, and no matter how clear it was to me and my mom, I just couldn’t believe it was real.”

The lucky lady will dedicate her $20,000 prize to a house down-payment fund. Playing an important role in her lucky day are the folks at Wegmans #47 at 8855 McGaw Road in Columbia. Selling the $20,000 top-prize winning scratch-off earned the store a $200 bonus from the Lottery. The Ravens X2 game, which debuted in August, still has two $20,000 top prizes available as well as five of its $5,000 prizes.
