Burtonsville Woman Wins $50,000 Thanks to Powerball Quick Pick

A Burtonsville woman was at home having dinner one night and suddenly thought about trying her luck with Powerball. She asked her husband to go out and buy her a ticket. He went and bought her $20 worth of Powerball quick pick tickets. The winner’s timing was perfect as the last line of her 10 quick pick combinations matched four white balls and the red Powerball for a $50,000 third-tier win.

Purchased at Columbia Road Exxon in Silver Spring on the afternoon of Dec. 7, a Sunday, the ticket was for the Monday, Dec. 8, drawing. When she checked her numbers on Dec. 9, she got a happy surprise as she discovered her $50,000 win. She immediately called her husband, who was at work at the time.

“You need to sit down for this one,” she recalled telling him as she recounted her winning Story Dec. 12 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

He apprehensively sat in his truck as he didn’t know what kind of news he was going to get, and he was equally as surprised by the news of a $50,000 win.

The winner and husband plan to use their winnings to take a family vacation with the grand children and save the rest.
