At home in California, he’s a frequent flier when it comes to playing the Lottery, so it only made sense that he would play while visiting his daughter in Maryland. The surprise came when he won $50,000 on the $5 holiday-themed Festive Fortune scratch-off.
Accompanied by his granddaughter when he claimed the prize Feb. 13 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, he said he plans to put the money in savings and keep on playing.
He bought the winning ticket at the Check Cash Depot at 7560 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, which receives a $500 bonus.
The holiday season may have given way to icy weather, but the Lottery’s holiday-themed tickets remain a potential source of celebration. The most recent win leaves four of the original eight $50,000 prizes unclaimed on the Festive Fortune game, along with tens of thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
