Caroline County Woman Wins $50,000 FAST PLAY Prize on Her Birthday

Alicia from Caroline County won a $50,000 FAST PLAY prize on her birthday.

A relaxing birthday celebration turned into an unforgettable surprise when a Caroline County woman won $50,000 playing FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack on her 40th birthday.

Alicia, a private caregiver, mother and grandmother, had planned a day of rest and relaxation that included a spa visit with her sister-in-law. After spending several hours in a salt cave, the ladies learned their second spa appointment had been canceled due to a power outage.

With extra time on her schedule after dropping her sister-in-law off, Alicia decided to cash in a birthday scratch-off and visited Quick Shop, located at 13760 Greensboro Road in Greensboro, to use the Lottery vending machine.

A regular scratch-off player, she recently began trying FAST PLAY games, which have play styles similar to scratch-offs, but are printed on-demand by the Lottery’s terminals and vending machines. Alicia used part of her $50 in winnings to purchase two $10 High Roller Blackjack tickets.

While reviewing one the tickets, Alicia noticed she had beaten the dealer on the first hand and initially believed she had won $10,000. She scanned the ticket to confirm the prize and discovered the win was worth much more.

“I was too excited about the $10,000,” she said.

Too overwhelmed to drive home right away, she called her partner and asked him to meet her at a nearby plaza so she could share the news in person.

“He thought I was in an accident,” Alicia recalled while claiming her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on March 24.

The grandmother of four plans to use the winnings to pay bills and take a vacation later this year.

FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack launched Jan. 5, 2026, featuring a progressive jackpot that starts at $100,000 and increases with the sale of each ticket until a progressive jackpot-winning ticket is sold. As of March 25, there are 26 progressive jackpot prizes remaining along with 14 more second-tier prizes of $50,000, 75 prizes of $10,000 and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
