Clarksburg Man Scores First Top Prize on New Ice Scratch-off

Takes home $100,000 windfall while waiting for carryout order

A Montgomery County resident, who enjoys the occasional scratch-off ticket, is now $100,000 richer after scratching his way to a top prize on the new Ice game.

While waiting for food at a local carryout, he wandered into nearby Bill’s Wine and Liquor. The shiny, icy blue design of the recently launched Ice game caught his eye. He decided to use an extra $20 in his pocket to buy two tickets.

The Clarksburg man began scratching the tickets while chatting with a friend. The first ticket was not a winner, however, the second one left him in disbelief.

“I never thought I’d see the day where I held a winning Lottery ticket worth that much — it felt like a scene from a movie,” he recalled.

Still stunned, he scanned the ticket multiple times just to be sure. Each scan confirmed he won $100,000.

The winner has shared the news with only a few close friends and plans to keep it that way. When asked about his plans for the money, he explained that although he initially considered a vacation, he now intends to use the winnings to pay off bills and save as much as he can.

Bill’s Wine and Liquor at 7431 Annapolis Road in Hyattsville wins, too. The Prince George’s County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
