A Dundalk couple left Lottery headquarters with smiles on their faces Dec. 6, having become the latest to claim a big-money prize from the recently concluded Holiday Raffle.
Fans of the lottery’s jackpot games, they saw the raffle as an opportunity to try something different. Their $100,000 second-tier win was clear evidence they had achieved that goal.
“We’ve been buying Powerball and Mega Millions tickets twice a week for a long time,” they said after claiming the prize. “Trying something different seemed like a good idea. A nice change to our regular routine.”
Checking the final results on Saturday, Jan. 3, at mdlottery.com, they were met with exciting but initially unbelievable news.
“I was sure that I’d punched in the wrong raffle number,” one of the pair said. “I kept entering it again and again, and every time it came up as a $100,000 winner.”
“I still don’t believe it’s real.”
They bought the big winner at the North Point Diner at 2701 North Point Road in Dundalk.
The Maryland Lottery Holiday Raffle ran Nov. 3 through Jan. 1, with winning numbers drawn on Jan. 2, including for a top prize of $1 million and 10 prizes of $100,000 each. The winning numbers – including 10,000 for prizes of $50 to $500 – were selected from among the 237,206 sequentially numbered tickets sold.
Tickets, numbered 000001 through 237206, were $20 each and were available at Maryland Lottery retailers across the state.
A list of all winning numbers is available on the Holiday Raffle page at mdlottery.com, and the page also has a search tool that can be used to check specific numbers to see if they are winners. Holiday Raffle tickets can also be checked by scanning them with the Maryland Lottery app, or at any Lottery retailer. Winners have 182 days from Jan. 2 to claim their prizes.
