Eastern Shore Woman Becomes Maryland’s Latest Lottery Millionaire

A scratch-off fan from Kent County is a millionaire after scratching her way to a $1 million top prize playing the All About Cash scratch-off four months ago. The stunned player was still trying to process her win when she claimed her prize and shared her story with Lottery officials on Feb. 13.

Even though her memory was a little foggy, she did recall that it was in October 2025 when she purchased just one $20 All About Cash scratch-off from the High’s store in Chestertown. She was on her way home from work when she picked up the game because she said, “it looked good that day.” She played the game in her car.

“I scratch from the bottom up until I get a match and then scratch the prize,” she said. “I thought I was hallucinating when I wasn’t even half way up the ticket when I saw I matched and then all of those zeroes!”

The big winner thought, “this can’t be right” and used the Maryland Lottery app on her phone to scan the ticket to confirm the win. She was definitely holding a $1 million winner.

“I was so shaky,” she said when claiming the prize. “I had to sit there for a few minutes until I calmed down.”

When she felt like she could drive, the shocked winner traveled home, and, after staring at the ticket for a bit, she signed it and hid it away in a safe. She said she wanted to wait until the new year to claim her prize which she did.

She said her plans are to help family and invest.

The High’s store at 887 Washington Avenue in Chestertown also has a reason to be happy. The Lottery retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the $1 million top prize winner.

The All About Cash scratch-off launched in July 2025, and has three $1 million top prizes remaining. It also has two prizes at the $50,000 level, 21 at the $10,000 level and many more prizes up for grabs ranging from $40 to $5,000.
