Easton Man Trembles in Disbelief After a $50,000 Powerball Win

Just this past Saturday, Sept. 6, an Easton man, along with millions of other people, was scrambling to get a hold of that $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot. The jackpot win may have eluded everyone in Maryland, but it didn’t stop this man from coming away with a $50,000 Powerball prize.

When asked after claiming his prize Sept. 9 at Lottery headquarters how he felt about his win, he said that he was nervous and shaking. He plans to use his winnings to invest. When he’s not working or playing lottery, he enjoys fishing and gardening.

The Talbot County resident made a stop at Bypass Crown gas station at 219 Marlboro Avenue in Easton, not far from where he works. It’s where he often goes to buy Powerball and scratch-off tickets. He paid $2 for a single, no-frills draw and that was all he needed for hefty lottery win.

While at home later that evening, he realized he’d matched four white balls and the red Powerball. Although very happy about his $50,000 prize, he felt a tinge of disappointment at not having paid an extra dollar for Power Play option. The randomly selected Power Play for that drawing was X2, which would have increased his prize to a $100,000 pay day.
