Eighty-eight-year-old Man Wins $100,000 on Pick 5

Baltimore man still working and does not plan to retire

An 88-year-old Baltimore man says he enjoys every day, and life just got a little better after winning $100,000 on Pick 5.

The lucky winner has been playing variations of his birthday with Pick 3 and Pick 4 for years. He started playing Pick 5 when the game launched in February 2022. He was happy that his birth year hit on Pick 5 (19350) in May. Since he played two tickets, it doubled the fun and it resulted in a $100,000 prize.

The winner works in construction and says he still operates machinery. He gets his eyes checked regularly and says he is still healthy enough to maintain a full work schedule. Even with the $100,000 win, he has no plans to retire. He said he retired for six years and got bored.

“I don’t need to work. I love to go to work,” he explained. “I love to get up early. It gives me a purpose.”

According to the big winner, he doesn’t have any immediate plans for his prize, but said it will probably go towards helping his children and their families.

At 88-years old, he said he will continue to play the Lottery and enjoy life to the fullest.

“It’s by the grace of God that I am still here. I feel very blessed,” said the winner.

The Baltimore City resident said he purchases tickets at different locations, but Patapsco Village Liquors at 3434 Annapolis Road sold him the two winning $50,000 tickets. The Baltimore retailer will receive a $1,000 for selling two winning tickets.
