Family Collaboration Leads to $50,000 Scratch-Off Win in Severn

It’s a family affair for a Severn woman who collaboratively buys scratch-off tickets with her mom and uncle. They each buy two bingo-themed scratch-off tickets whenever they play. On a recent lottery foray the winner bough two Gold Bar Bingo tickets, one of which turned out to be a $50,000 top prize winner.

She purchased the tickets at the Sunoco gas station at 7530 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Landover.

The school teacher of three years was at home when she scratched her tickets. She went through the first five cards on the scratch card without incident. It was on that sixth card the caller’s numbers and free space formed an X, which translated to a $50,000 prize.

Initially, she wasn’t sure what happened. Then a bit of panic set in as she wanted to scan the ticket on her phone, but the app was down at the time. Eventually, however, the big win was confirmed and the family notified, resulting in excitement.

The mother of twin daughters who is active in her church says she has no specific plans for her winnings, but in general it’ll help with the expense of raising her children.

Landover Sunoco receives a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize-winning scratch-off.

Gold Bar Bingo was launched in July of last year. Out of eight $50,000 top prizes, two remain unclaimed.
