FAST PLAY Keno Game Brings $30,000 Win for Skeptical Germantown Man

A Montgomery County man who usually plays scratch-offs was urged to try FAST PLAY. He did and won $30,000, even though it took four confirmations to convince him.

Last week, the Germantown resident was with his daughter at Wisteria Beer and Wine, about to purchase some of his favorite scratch-off games when he had a change of heart. He wanted to try something different, so the cashier suggested he try a FAST PLAY game. The Lottery fan chose the $3 Keno FAST PLAY Edition game, and it turned out to be his lucky day.

“I looked it over and it seemed that I won, but I thought, ‘no’,” the skeptical winner said. “Later my daughter scanned it and it said I won $30,000.”

He showed his wife, who gave him a third confirmation, but the retired IT employee was still not convinced.

“He wanted to go back to the store to have them confirm it too,” said the winner’s daughter, who accompanied her father to claim the prize Sept. 17 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The retailer made the fourth confirmation. “But I really don’t think it sunk in until we came here,” the daughter said.

Still in a bit of shock, the father of three adult children said he was excited about the win and he plans to save some of the prize money and share some with his family.

Also sharing in the win is Wisteria Beer and Wine at 13220 Wisteria Drive in Germantown, which receives a $300 bonus.

The Keno FAST PLAY Edition game has 8 remaining top tier prizes at the $30,000 level and tens of thousands more ranging from $5 to $1,000.
