Washington, D.C. college student’s first-time Lottery experience leads to big win

A Washington, D.C. father and son who decided to spend the day together started with a nice drive. After running a few errands, the son wound up $50,000 richer!

On May 26, the anonymous Pick 5 winner going by the nickname of “Steve Ca$h” stopped by a Prince George’s County Lottery retailer during a day of fun with his father. As his dad pulled up to Best 1 Food Market in Capitol Heights, the son looked to his father for Lottery advice. He knew his dad liked to play Lottery games and wanted to join in the fun.

The son, who was a Lottery novice, asked his father to play a lucky number he uses in his favorite video game. His father assured him he would do so and, minutes later, returned to the car with a $1 straight Pick 5 ticket for the evening drawing. The lucky five-digit number on the 18-year-old’s ticket was 15172.

The rest was history! The winning cybersecurity student plans to use the prize to purchase a luxury car and invest in his fashion business.

“Steve Ca$h” isn’t the only one ready to celebrate his big win. Best 1 Food Market located at 4225 Southern Avenue in Capitol Heights receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
