Frederick Engineer Left Speechless After $50K Win on Ice Scratch-off

A Frederick man bought a $10 Ice scratch-off and received a “Go to Lottery” message. He had no idea that he won $50,000 on the ticket.

The engineer explained he bought a ticket and won $10. Then, he played again and won $15. He kept playing and was hoping to keep up the winning trend by finding a $20 winner and so on, but he got a message from the scanner that said “Go to Lottery” on the third ticket. He didn’t know what that message meant so he took matters into his own hands.

“I needed to scratch that ticket to find out if I won anything,” he said with a smile.

He saw one of his numbers matched one of the winning numbers, and he scratched away to reveal a prize of $50,000.

“I was speechless. It was a nice surprise,” he said.

The Frederick County resident said he plans on giving some money to his family and paying off bills.

The Frederick Wawa at 5833 Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick County sold the winning ticket.

The Ice scratch-off has been heating up inside Lottery retailers since its launch on April 21, Four of the six top prizes of $100,000 still remain. This is the second $50,000 winner, but six second-tier prizes are unclaimed, along with additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
