A scratch-off fan from Garrett County just enjoyed a major brush with Lottery luck that she is planning to keep a secret. The retail worker landed a life-changing $100,000 top prize while playing a $100,000 Crossword 5th Edition scratch-off.
The happy woman bought the lucky ticket at BFS Foods #47 in Oakland. She wanted to play a $10 game and saw the $100,000 Crossword instant ticket was available in the Lottery vending machine. Although it isn’t one of her regular scratch-offs, the lucky lady bought the crossword-themed game, scratched off the prize check area in the store and got a shocking surprise when she scanned it. She verified the win and then skedaddled out of the store!
A college student, the winner said she hasn’t decided yet what to do with her big prize. Her dad accompanied her to Lottery headquarters and said he also plays a variety of Lottery games. He is currently trying his luck with one of the $30 scratch-offs in hopes of landing a $2 million prize.
The lucky Lottery retailer, BFS Foods #47, is located at 837 East Oak Street. The Garrett County business will earn a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
