Played 8-spot ticket with Super Bonus multiplier
An Anne Arundel County man could not believe his luck last weekend. The grandfather, who was simultaneously playing pool and Keno, racked up a $30,008 prize on an 8-spot Keno wager.
The casual Lottery player was with friends at JJ’s Tavern in Glen Burnie when he decided to play a few rounds of Keno. Choosing his numbers, he placed an 8-spot bet for five drawings and added the Super Bonus option on the digits 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, and 79. While his five Keno games played across the screen, the Glen Burnie resident continued playing pool.
Later, the retired manufacturer decided to check his games for a win. He asked a waitress to run his ticket to see if Lottery luck had come his way. To the man’s surprise, the waitress said, “You won and it’s big,” he told Lottery officials while claiming his prize in Baltimore.
“I just looked at her and said, ‘Nah,’” said the big winner, smiling. “I looked on the back of the play card to see how much I won and after the Super Bonus, it was $30,008, but I was still skeptical.”
When he called his wife to share the news, she was very excited about her husband’s big win. “She was a huge help, setting me up for an appointment,” the winner said. “And, here I am.”
He plans to invest some of the prize in the stock market, where he’s had success in the past.
The Keno winner isn’t alone in his celebration. The Glen Burnie retailer located at 1018 1st Street in Anne Arundel County will receive a Lottery bonus of $300 for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
