Glen Burnie Woman Takes Home $50,007 Piece of $1.2 Billion Powerball Jackpot

Sandra Flores of Glen Burnie and her brother Lazaro Perez collect her $50,007 Powerball prize.

Claims third-tier prize in Nov. 2 drawing

A lucky lady from Glen Burnie who occasionally buys Lottery tickets couldn’t resist trying her luck when the Powerball jackpot climbed to $1.2 billion. Having a Lottery retailer near her workplace made it easy for Sandra Florez to place her bet in the Nov. 2 drawing. No one hit the jackpot that night but she came out a $50,007 winner.

The 33-year-old tried her luck at Carroll Motor Fuels located at 500 Frederick Road in Catonsville. She paid $10 and selected her own five lines of numbers. “It was an amazing feeling,” the happy winner said of discovering her win. The Anne Arundel County resident immediately shared the great news with family members. Her brother accompanied her to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize.

The jackpot kept rolling after her drawing, reaching $2.05 billion when a California player finally won in the Nov. 7 drawing. The jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is now an estimated annuity of $76 million with a cash option of $38.2 million.
