Prince George’s County player finds luck in June 26 drawing
A Hyattsville man said he can’t exactly remember how he came up with the number 20533 but is sure glad he did because it won $50,000 in a recent Pick 5 drawing.
The big winner said he chooses all of his Lottery numbers based on other drivers’ license plate digits. If he spots a car in an accident or if a car speeds past him, he will look at the license plate and might just play that number. Regardless of where the number came from, he was pleasantly surprised when it appeared in the June 26 Pick 5 midday drawing.
“I was happy and excited when my five digits hit,” he said with a smile.
The Prince George’s County resident reports having had good luck with 20533. He won when the number was boxed and won $5,000 in 2023 on a Pick 4 drawing after converting the number to 2053.
The retired retail worker said he likes to spend time fishing and enjoys being a grandfather. He added that his prize will go toward starting a savings account for his grandchild.
The happy player bought the winning ticket at the Mt. Rainier 7-Eleven located at 2310 Varnum Street. The Prince George’s County retailer also benefits from the sale. The store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
