Hyattsville Dad Turning Scratch-off Prize into Housing Down Payment

Claims $100,000 top prize on Gold scratch-off

A Prince George’s County father of one has added house hunting to his to-do list after winning a $100,000 top prize on a Gold scratch-off.

The 24-year-old found Lottery luck at Save-a-Lot in Bladensburg. The $10 holiday scratch-off, which went on sale in October, is packed with prizes. His top-prize win leaves behind seven more $100,000 prizes remaining to be claimed along with 28 unclaimed $10,000 prizes and 30 $1,000 prizes.

A meat packer, the anonymous winner said he hasn’t revealed his big win to anyone other than his family and planned to keep his prize a secret. The Hyattsville resident is hoping to use his winnings to make a down payment on a house. The winner also plays Powerball and Mega Millions but has found his biggest win to date playing scratch-offs.

The Save-a-Lot at 5416 Annapolis Road in Bladensburg has reason to celebrate as well. The Prince George’s County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.

Only one day remains for players to enter non-winning Holiday scratch-offs like the Gold game into the Holiday Cash Second-chance Promotion. Players can try to win $2,500 or $25,000 in cash prizes. Get details HERE.
