Hyattsville Man Wins $158,092 on FAST PLAY Progressive Jackpot Game

Jose Fuentes of Hyattsville stopped by Lottery headquarters on St. Patrick’s Day to claim his $158,092 FAST PLAY prize.

Prince George’s County man didn’t realize how much he won

When Jose Fuentes of Hyattsville hit the progressive jackpot on the FAST PLAY World Championship Poker game, he knew he had won but not that he hit the $158,092 progressive jackpot.

“I had no idea how much I won. I didn’t realize it was that much,” he said.

The Prince George’s County man’s excitement grew when he learned the size of his prize. The $5 game has a progressive jackpot that begins at $40,000. The jackpot climbs with the sale of each ticket in the game until a lucky player buys a jackpot-winning ticket.

“I was confused at first, but I was very happy that I won,” Jose said with a grin.

The 41-year-old paid a visit to Lottery headquarters on St. Patrick’s Day with his step-daughter to claim the prize. He works at a restaurant and likes to go out with friends when he has free time. The lucky winner is still deciding how to spend his big win but noted, “I am probably going to buy a new house.”

Jose bought the winning ticket at Sunoco Ethio gas station at 6907 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park. For selling a jackpot-winning ticket of $100,000 or more, the Montgomery County business will receive a $1,000 bonus.

The World Championship Poker game was released in September 2021. Nine top prizes remain and the progressive jackpot had passed the $41,000 mark on Friday afternoon. Other unclaimed prizes remaining range from $5 to $5,000.
