Winner dubious about win on Bonus Crossword game
A Baltimore City resident got a surprise when she scanned a $3 Bonus Crossword scratch-off to check for a win. The skeptical player won the game’s top prize of $30,000 but didn’t believe it was real.
“I thought it was a joke at first. I thought the machine malfunctioned,” she said. However, the 71-year-old soon came to realize Lottery luck had come her way.
Although she is a regular scratch-off player, the winner explained that she had never played a crossword scratch-off until the day of her top-prize win. She saw a stack of the fifth edition of the Bonus Crossword scratch-off in G&A Food Market in Baltimore and decided to purchase five of them. The third instant ticket she scratched off contained her fortune.
The lucky lady plans to spend her prize on her family and children. “This is an amazing feeling,” she said of her win.
Her lucky retailer also benefits from selling a top-prize winning scratch-off. G&A Food Market at 1204 Druid Hill Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
The fifth edition of the Bonus Crossword scratch-off went on sale Feb. 20. This is the second $30,000 winner discovered, with six top prizes remaining and 15 $5,000 awaiting discovery.
