A man from Jessup, who enjoys playing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs, picked up a $50,000 prize playing the $30 Cash is King game.
Unsure what he would do with his winnings, the player said his main reason for playing is the enjoyment he gets out of scratching the games to see if he’s won. He started playing the Maryland Lottery “when it started,” in 1973.
He bought the winning ticket at U.S. 1 Liquors at 8167 Washington Boulevard in Jessup and claimed the prize on July 10 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The Jessup player claimed the last of six second-tier $50,000 prizes on the Cash is King game. The top prize on the game, which made its debut on Sept. 19, 2022, is $2 million, and a single prize at that level remains unclaimed.
