Quick-pick ticket brings home the big prize
A Frederick Count couple who are fans of Pick 5 started playing the Maryland Lottery’s newest numbers game when it made its debut in February. They play a mix of quick-pick tickets and personal sets of numbers in hopes of landing a big win.
That dream came true on May 12, when the wife visited Buckeystown Mart to pick up a few items including a Pick 5 ticket. She bought a $1 straight bet ticket for the evening drawing, letting Lady Luck pick her numbers: 4, 4, 3, 7 and 9.
Later that night, after the drawing, the 63-year-old checked the ticket using the Lottery app on her phone. She didn’t get excited as her numbers matched, one by one, until she saw the very last digit fall into place, locking in a $50,000 win.
She and her husband haven’t yet decided what to do with the big prize, she said. Also benefiting from the sale of the winning ticket is the lucky Buckeystown Lottery retailer. Buckeystown Mart located at 3612 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick County earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 winning Pick 5 ticket.
