A Laurel resident is celebrating a $50,000 Pick 5 prize after trusting her instincts and her horoscope.
The retired business owner who has played the Maryland Lottery for over three decades, visited Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore to claim her prize, accompanied by her smiling husband. The couple radiated joy as she shared the story behind her big win.
“I had a hunch and followed it,” she said, explaining how her morning routine led to a memorable moment. The routine includes light stretching, freshening up and checking her daily horoscope. On that particular day, the horoscope highlighted the numbers 25569, a combination she felt drawn to play.
That gut feeling paid off in a big way. Though she’s no stranger to winning smaller prizes over the years, this win tops the list for the veteran player who says she plays for fun and the dream of something bigger.
When asked how she plans to spend her windfall, the retiree answered with a smile, “Pay my bills and save. I want to be responsible with it.” But she’s not done dreaming yet: “I’m manifesting $1 million. And you better believe I’ll be back to claim a bigger prize!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Sandy Spring Exxon at 7801 Old Sandy Spring Road in Laurel. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize winning Pick 5 ticket.
