Laurel Woman Keeping News of $100,000 Lottery Win to Small Group

Smaller prizes have proven entertaining, she says, but this was ‘the big one!’

Playing the Maryland Lottery is a shared interest for a Bowie woman’s family and social circle, but it will only be members of her inner circle who find out she won $100,000 on the $10 scratch-off game Snow Globe 7s.

The winner was accompanied by her sister when she claimed her prize April 29 at Maryland Lottery headquarters. They both agreed that they enjoy playing the Lottery.

And what’s the appeal of playing: “The winning!”

Winning, the sisters said, is fun even if it involves relatively small amounts like a few dollars here, or $100 there, but, as the winner put it: “This one, it was the big one!”

About two weeks before claiming the prize, she scratching her tickets at home. She scanned the Snow Globe 7s ticket with her phone and saw a notification that it was a big winner.

“I was like, ‘No way!,’” she said. She decided to take it to a store to double check, and, sure enough, it was the real thing.

With her winnings, she plans to put a solid down payment on a house. There also will be a family celebration, at least for the inner circle. Going forward, she says she’ll continue relaxing by playing the Lottery.

The ticket was purchased at Lee’s Market at 338 Brock Ridge Road in Laurel, which receives a bonus of $1,000.
