$392,970 FAST PLAY Fat Wallet progressive jackpot adds to retirement savings
A regular Maryland Lottery player from Lexington Park shared that her largest previous Lottery prize had been $1,000. So, when she recently bought a FAST PLAY Fat Wallet ticket worth $392,970, it came as a bit of a pleasant shock.
A winner of relatively small amounts in the past, she jokingly referred to herself as “Ms. Skeptical” as she hoped a big win would eventually come her way.
“Where’s my $5,000, my $50,000? I never got it. Until now!” she said as she visited the Lottery’s Winner’s Circle on March 13 to claim her prize. The St. Mary’s County resident bought the winning Fat Wallet ticket on March 7 at Lusby Market Exxon at 11805 H.G. Trueman Road in the Calvert County community of Lusby.
Winning a big prize is great, but “Ms. Skeptical” says she enjoys playing Lottery games for the little thrills.
“It’s the excitement of seeing if you won or lost. The thrill of scratching your ticket,” she said.
Recently retired, “Ms. Skeptical” said her winnings mostly will go into padding her retirement savings, but she’ll also be test driving a few vehicles as she shops for a new car. Meanwhile, her retirement plans involve traveling. A trip to the Bahamas was already on the books when she claimed her prize, and she had a similar trip to Aruba last year.
The $10 Fat Wallet ticket has a progressive jackpot that starts at $70,000 and increases with the sale of each ticket until a progressive jackpot-winner is sold. Fat Wallet went on sale in July 2024, and “Ms. Skeptical” is the game’s first progressive jackpot winner. Nine more of the progressive jackpots remain waiting to be won. Lusby Market Exxon is celebrating as well. The retailer receives a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery for selling the ticket.
