Washington County woman claims $50,000 prize on Jumbo Cash instant ticket
A Western Maryland woman who’s an avid scratch-off player found herself in possession of some unclaimed instant tickets with prizes totaling $12. Instead of cashing in her winning games and leaving the Lottery retailer, the player put her prizes right back into the Lottery pot.
She bought a $10 Jumbo Cash scratch-off and enjoyed a jumbo win in the form of a $50,000 second-tier prize.
The player bought the lucky instant ticket at Sheetz, located at 38 E. Potomac Street in Williamsport, where she frequently goes to buy Lottery games. She was already a big fan of the Jumbo Cash instant ticket and knew how to play it.
The lucky lady revealed the winning numbers and then scratched only the numbers portion of the “your numbers” section without looking at prize amounts. By the time she was ready to look at her matching dollar amounts, the winner realized that she had three matching numbers and two JUMBO symbols, all of which had corresponding $10,000 prizes.
“My head has been in the clouds for the past few days,” she said. When her elation eased a bit, she shared the great news with family members. She has no specific plans yet for her prize other than living without any financial burdens. A retired store supervisor, she enjoys gardening and spending time with family members.
The Jumbo Cash game arrived on the scene in April and has two of its original five $250,000 top prizes awaiting discovery. Also still unclaimed are one $50,000 prize, 14 $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
