Baltimore man finds luck with new Winning 7 game
A dedicated scratch-off player from Baltimore recalls being drawn to the Lottery’s new Winning 7 scratch-off because of a dream he had that felt all too real.
The anonymous player, who is using the nickname “Dell” to tell his story, said he has been “playing the Lottery for as long as I can remember.” He credits his $57,777 top-prize win on the game to a dream he had where his father gifted him a scratch off with the number 7 on it. “Dell” and his father shared the joy of playing the Lottery together. They would both buy the newest scratch-offs and share their success stories with each other.
“Dell” was in Frankford Gardens Liquors in Baltimore picking up some wine and scratch-offs when he followed his dream. He purchased two of the $5 Winning 7 scratch-offs. The first instant ticket won $15. When he scratched off the top line of the second instant ticket, “Dell” matched the winning number and knew he scored a big prize. He was “floored” when he scanned the scratch-off to check for a win and saw the prize amount listed as $57,777.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all. After I saw it, I double-checked it and rushed home to see my wife,” he said.
“Dell” plans to use the prize to renovate his home and spoil his wife. Sharing in his luck is his Lottery retailer, Frankford Gardens Liquors located at 5418 Sinclair Lane in Baltimore. The store will receive a $577 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off.
“Dell” is the second person to claim a top prize in the Winning 7 game, which went on sale Nov. 24. Six top prizes of $57,777 remain along with others ranging from $5 to $7,000.
