TREASURES

The State’s natural beauty, culture, icons, landmarks and history are a source of pride for Marylanders from Oakland to Ocean City and everywhere in between. The Maryland Lottery wants to celebrate what we treasure most about Maryland by having artists capture it to share it with our entire State.

Your Art on Our
Scratch-Offs

Maryland artists are invited to submit their artwork of any visual arts medium including “works on paper” and digital art for a chance to be featured on the Maryland Lottery’s 2026 Maryland Treasures Scratch-Off tickets. Three Entries will be selected as works made for hire to display on the tickets and to support and promote the game.

3 Entries — Winning Artwork

A panel of judges will review all Valid Entries and select the three Winning Artworks  that best reflect the theme “Maryland Treasures.” The Winning Artworks may be by different artists – or even the same artist – depending on how strongly each work connects to the theme and stands out in terms of creativity and execution. Please see the Official Rules for criteria for judging the submissions.

Cash Awards

Winning Artwork will be a “Work for Hire” and the selected artist(s) will receive $4,000 for each piece of original art and for helping the Maryland Lottery promote the Maryland Treasures Scratch-Off tickets. Please see the Official Rules for details.

Featured in Maryland Lottery Marketing

Winning Artwork will be featured on scratch-offs that will be available to purchase beginning in March 2026 at approximately 4,300 retail locations throughout the State. The artists selected will also be featured in Maryland Lottery Products and Marketing.

Ticket Templates

  • Download Template: PNG | JPG | PDF
  • The templates provided are for reference and planning only, so that artists can see approximately how the selected artwork will appear on the tickets. DO NOT include any of the overlays, graphics or text from the templates in the submitted artwork.
  • An Entry should be submitted as a square digital jpg, regardless of the medium in which the art was created.
  • Artwork must be oriented vertically and scalable to fit a 4″ x 4″ scratch-off ticket.
  • Winning Artwork will appear on the scratch-offs as indicated on the samples shown.
  • Printing technique will allow the Winning Artwork to be visible as shown and will remain visible upon scratching of the latex covering.
  • The Maryland Lottery will provide exact final specifications to Winners after selection of the Winning Artwork.

Eligibility

  • Must be 18+
  • Must be a Maryland resident
  • Must be the original artist of the Entry
  • Entries must not be created by more than one person

Art Criteria

  • Maximum of 5 Entries per artist
  • Artwork must be square in format
  • No AI-generated content
  • No visible artist signatures with the Entry
  • Must celebrate Maryland: history, landmarks, culture, etc.
  • Submissions must be in JPG format regardless of art medium
  • Not appeal or be directed to children
  • No political or religious messages
  • No offensive or adult content/nudity
  • No copyrighted/licensed material. Art should not have been sold commercially in the past.
  • No group submissions
  • No people (portraits) in art
  • No identifiable logos, IPs or businesses should be used
