A Montgomery County mechanic is celebrating after winning a $50,000 top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Let’s Make a Deal® scratch-off game. The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, has been playing the Lottery for nearly a decade, always hoping to uncover a top prize, and this time, he finally did.
After purchasing a handful of scratch-offs with a friend, he scratched his tickets and was stunned to reveal the $50,000 prize. “I didn’t believe what I was seeing, because I never thought of myself as lucky,” he shared. Still in disbelief, he scanned the ticket multiple times using the Maryland Lottery app and visited different retail locations to confirm the win.
Over the years, the winner has enjoyed playing the Lottery with family and coworkers, even though his previous wins never exceeded a few hundred dollars. Despite the magnitude of this prize, he has chosen to keep the exact amount under wraps when sharing the news with loved ones.
The good news doesn’t stop with the winner. The Shell station at 649 Lave View Drive in Mt. Airy will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for their role in selling a top-prize-winning scratch-off.
The $5 Let’s Make a Deal scratch-off has five $50,000 top-prizes remaining, and offers an exciting second-chance promotion through My Lottery Rewards. Players can enter non-winning Let’s Make a Deal tickets for the chance to win a trip or a cash prize.
The promotion, which runs now through Sept. 8, offers five VIP trips for two to Los Angeles where winners and guests will attend a TV taping of the Let’s Make a Deal game show where Lottery winners will “play along” with show contestants to win up to $3,000. The trip includes roundtrip airfare, hotel, a VIP tour of Los Angeles landmarks, spending money and a trip to a costume shop to pick out a costume to wear to the show.
