Make sure you check all the pockets before doing laundry. That’s a New Carrollton woman’s advice after she won $100,000 on a ticket she found while checking pockets in the laundry.
The warehouse worker said Oct. 29 after claiming her prize that she bought a $100,000 Ca$h scratch-off, a $30 game, and put it in her pocket for later. Then she forgot about it.
Weeks later at the laundromat, she found the ticket before putting the garment in the wash. She had a good feeling after she found the Lottery game before running it through the wash.
“I knew it was a lucky ticket,” she said.
According to the Prince George’s County resident, she took the scratch-off to a nearby Lottery retailer to scan the ticket and check whether her premonition was correct. She was happy to learn she had the top prize of $100,000.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited,” she said.
The big winner is undecided on how she is going to spend her winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at RC Checks Cashed at 7575 Annapolis Road in Hyattsville. For selling the winner, the Prince George’s County retailer picks up a 1 percent bonus of $1,000.
$100,000 Ca$h has been sold at Maryland Lottery retail partners since Sept. 18, 2023 and started with 65 top prizes of $100,000 each. The New Carrollton winner is the 21st player to claim a $100,000 top prize, leaving 44 more unclaimed.
