Describes five-digit score as a ‘nice blessing’ as Washington state player hits for $754.6 million

She’s been playing for years with nary a win of any substance but that all changed during the Powerball run-up to the $754.6 million jackpot win. A North Bethesda player won a $50,000 third-tier prize in the Feb. 6 drawing while a player in Washington state matched every number and won $754.6 million.

The Montgomery County player’s score, however, was hardly a disappointment. “It was a nice blessing,” she said. “I guess I’m just about even.”

She typically buys her Lottery games at the shop where she got her hot ticket, Gourmet Beer & Wine at 11530 Rockville Pike in Rockville. The loyal player plans to continue buying tickets there and, in fact, had already bought her ticket there for the next drawing.

Tonight’s Powerball drawing is for an estimated jackpot annuity of $57 million with a cash option of $30.1 million.
