Roshan Khatri of Baltimore County is a happy player, celebrating his newfound status as the first person to scratch off a $50,000 top prize in the MONOPOLY X20 game. The game from the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. Is a member of a family of MONOPOLY scratch-offs and went on sale Jan. 13.
A longtime Lottery enthusiast, Roshan has played scratch-offs for six years and won enough to keep the fun going. One evening in January, the Parkville man’s his luck took a thrilling turn when he stopped at JP’s Bar located at 528 South Bouldin Street in Baltimore to pick up an energy drink and a few scratch-offs. Drawn to the MONOPOLY X20 instant ticket, he decided to give it a try.
His $5 purchase turned into an unforgettable moment when he scratched and scanned the instant ticket, revealing the incredible $50,000 prize.
“I was stunned,” Roshan said. “I left the store quickly and started figuring out how to claim my prize. I kept it a secret until the day I came to claim it, bringing a friend along for security.”
As for how he plans to spend his windfall, Roshan said he is still considering his options. “I have no idea how I’ll spend it, but I’m just excited to get my winnings.”
Roshan isn’t the only one celebrating. JP’s Bar, which sold the lucky instant ticket, will receive a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a top-prize-winning scratch-off.
The MONOPOLY X20 instant ticket is still packed with prizes. There are seven $50,000 top prizes up for grabs, along with others ranging from $5 to $5,000. This game is also part of a MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion. Players can enter any non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prize. Six monthly drawings from February to July will award $5,000 prizes and rolling cash jackpots that start at $10,000 and grow until the drawing date.
