Baltimore man rotates sets of numbers in hopes of winning big
His late parents’ birth dates popped up, in different combinations, as the winning Pick 5 number over and over in the past, said the Baltimore man. He rotates the personal sets of numbers he plays in the daily drawings and the type of bet he places. Time after time, he played a different set of numbers from his parents’ birthdays in hopes for a big win.
“I missed it 10 times,” said the player, sitting in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters with his girlfriend by his side. Then, during the Dec. 2 evening drawing, his numbers came out. His girlfriend was alone at the time she saw the familiar digits were drawn.
“I called him because I know the numbers he plays,” she said. “He was like, ‘Let me call you back.’”
When he did, the winner was all smiles and began a new daily habit of humming a merry little jingle. “He sang for two weeks straight,” she said. “I’ve never seen him so happy.”
Although this is his biggest win to date, it wasn’t his only big win in 2024. The lucky player won $25,000 playing Pick 5 and used much of that prize to pay off his college student loans and a motor vehicle. This prize, he said, will help him buy a house and a new-to-him used car.
Also benefiting from his Lottery luck was his retailer. Fox Liquors located at 1301 North Fulton Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
