Player with Itchy Hand Wins $40K Keno prize

Baltimore barber wins prize on 6-spot ticket with Super Bonus

When someone’s hand itches, many times it can be attributed to dry skin or allergies. But according to some superstitions, an itchy hand is thought to be a sign that you will be lucky enough to receive some money. A Baltimore man confirmed his superstition after an itchy hand led him to a $40,000 Keno win.

As soon as his hand started itching while grocery shopping at a Giant in Parkville, the Baltimore City resident made a beeline to the Lottery kiosk and bought a Keno ticket. He used a few random numbers he saw earlier in the day and purchased a 6-spot ticket with the Super Bonus option.

After the game took place, he scanned his ticket at the Lottery terminal and was pleasantly surprised when he saw the message, “see Lottery.” The initial payout for matching all six numbers on a 6-spot ticket is $1,000, but the player had $10 on the game which made his prize $10,000. Then, the Super Bonus had a multiplier of x4 which increased his prize to $40,000. After jumping around in celebration, he called his grandmother and shared the news.

The Baltimore-based barber says he plans save his winnings.

For selling the $40,000 Keno ticket, the Giant store at 1955 East Joppa Road in Baltimore County will receive a $400 bonus.
