No one matched all the Powerball numbers in the Aug. 6 drawing, resulting in the annuity jackpot inching closer to half a billion at $482 million, but a player in Oxon Hill matched all but one number for a $50,000 third-tier win.
The ticket was purchased at Eastover Liquors at 4909 Indian Head Highway, and is the 18th third-tier Powerball ticket sold so far this year in Maryland.
The winning numbers for the Aug. 6 drawing are: 15, 27, 43, 45 and 53; the Power Ball is 9. The winner matched four of the first five balls plus the Powerball for the $50,000 prize.
There were no jackpot winners, so the annuity jackpot bumped to an estimated $482 million with an estimated cash option of $218.9 million for the Saturday, Aug. 9, drawing.
Four winners came close, one each in California, New Jersey, New York and Ohio, as they matched the first five balls but not the Powerball for a second-tier prize of $1 million.
The Lottery encourages all winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. They have 182 days (six months) from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
