Prince George’s County Man Can’t Believe His Eyes after $50,000 Win

Loyal player claims prize on Pick 5 $1 straight bet

A Bladensburg man has played the same set of Pick 5 numbers for so long that he can’t remember where he got them. He achieved small wins and kept playing. That routine came to a screeching halt, however, after those same numbers earned the lucky winner a $50,000 Pick 5 prize.

The 53-year-old had visited Quick Stop Food Mart in Bladensburg to purchase a $1 straight bet ticket with his usual set of numbers – 40710 – for the Nov. 23 evening drawing. Later, while at home, he checked his ticket and did a double-take. When he finally believed his own eyes, the Prince George’s County resident told his girlfriend and his brother about his newfound fortune.

The happy winner currently works as a truck driver transporting Lime scooters. When asked of his plans for his prize, the winner said he may buy a new car. Other than that, he plans to put some of the funds toward holiday shopping.

His lucky retailer also wins. The Prince George’s County business is located at 5700 Emerson Street. For selling a $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket, Quick Stop Food Mart will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
