Quick-Pick Number Gives Multi-Match Player a $630,000 Jackpot Win

Lucky player scores prize in Oct. 12 drawing

He started playing Multi-Match earlier this year, the anonymous winner said, sitting with his wife in the Maryland Lottery Winner’s Circle after claiming a $630,000 jackpot prize.

The Eastern Shore resident, who visits several Lottery retailers to play his favorite game, happened to stop by Eagles Nest in Chesapeake City on Oct. 12 to try his luck with a Multi-Match ticket. The lucky player bought a $10 ticket for that night’s drawing, using a mix of personal numbers and quick-pick numbers to fill out his playslip.

Days later, he realized he hadn’t checked for a win and went out to his vehicle to retrieve the ticket. Sitting with his wife in the living room, the loyal player checked the winning numbers using his phone. One of the quick-pick lines on his ticket matched all six winning numbers.

“He just said, ‘We won,” his wife recalled. “I said, ‘I don’t believe it.’” After she checked the ticket herself to confirm the big win, the pair put the lucky ticket in the safe and resumed watching a movie.

They are keeping news of their Lottery luck a secret from family and friends, the pair said, but may quietly celebrate the big win together now that they claimed the jackpot prize. “I’ve always said, ‘Wait until the money’s in your hand,’” the husband said. They are putting their prize in the bank for safekeeping.

This is the ninth Multi-Match jackpot-winning ticket sold in 2023. For its role in the sale, Eagles Nest located at 2754 Augustine Herman Highway in Chesapeake City earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
