Randallstown Player Buys First 10 Tickets in Pack and Wins $100,000

Though there’s no statistical advantage, a Maryland Lottery player from Randallstown prefers to buy scratch-off tickets that are among the first 10 in each pack, and, as luck would have it, the tactic ended up giving her a $100,000 win on the $10 game Red 5’s Doubler.

Her top-tier win is the second nine on the game, which has been available only since Dec. 5. She claimed the prize Dec. 18 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

She had purchased tickets 1 through 10 in a pack from the Pantry One grocery store at 5100 Old Court Rd in Randallstown. She was there cashing in another winning ticket when she decided to buy additional tickets.

Instead of scratching the whole ticket, she just went straight to scratching the prize check QR codes and scanned them. Having won smaller prizes in the past, she saw a terminal message and knew she had a winner, but she thought it was just another relatively small prize. It wasn’t until the cashier informed her that she won $100,000 that she realized the gravity of the situation.

The Baltimore County winner said she couldn’t believe it. This is a life-changing win for her, and comes just in time as she is eyeing retirement and working extra to clear her financial picture.

In her spare time, she helps the less fortunate and uses her own money to do so. As a result, her $100,000 windfall will allow for a comfortable retirement and continued charity work.

Pantry One is also celebrating as the store receives a $1,000, equal to 1% of the prize total.

Seven Red 5’s Doubler top-tier $100,000 prizes remain unclaimed.
