It didn’t take long for a Randallstown woman to claim the first $50,000 top prize on the 2nd edition of THE BIG SPIN scratch-off.
The scratch-off was released on Friday and the federal government employee decided to purchase her Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers after work that same day. She noticed the popular scratch-off was back in stores and was enticed to buy a ticket.
“They brought THE BIG SPIN back!” she said with excitement. Her mood shifted with even more joy when she discovered she had a winning ticket.
According to the Baltimore County resident, her number 24 matched with the “WINNING NUMBER” of 24 and there was a $50,000 prize listed underneath. She couldn’t believe her own eyes, so she scanned her ticket and received confirmation that she had won the top prize.
“I left the store. Put the ticket in my pocket and went to my car to celebrate,” the lucky player recalled. “I always thought that one day I might hit the big one.”
The avid reader plans to pay off her car and will place the rest of her prize in the bank. She also believed ahead of time that she was in for some good luck.
“For the past few weeks, my hand kept itching,” the big winner said.
Randallstown Plaza Liquors, located at 3619 Offutt Road in Baltimore County, was the store that sold the winning ticket. For selling the prize, the Randallstown retailer will receive a $500 bonus.
THE BIG SPIN is a $5 scratch-off game that launched March 20. Players who reveal a “SPIN” symbol can scan their scratch-off at a Lottery retailer or by using the Lottery’s app. Most “SPIN” prizes lead to a cash prize of $10 to $250, but eight winning tickets will send players to try their luck with The Big Spin Wheel at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. That spin will award a minimum prize of $50,000 and up to $250,000. All eight of those spins remain unclaimed.
This is our first $50,000 instant winner, but two more top prizes remain, along with thousands of prizes between $5 and $5,000.
