A Maryland Lottery Keno loyalist from Dundalk won $40,000 on the game July 15, but that’s only his second-best win on the game.
In July of 2024, he won $50,036 on the same game. He’s also won a few times for prizes in the $20,000 range.
“I play almost every day. It’s a lot of fun. It’s something to do,” he said July 16 when he claimed the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
When he plays, the retired police officer chooses numbers that have meaning to him. In the case of his most recent windfall win, he played the numbers assigned to a group of his friends who all belong to a deer hunting club.
The winner played an eight-spot game with the super bonus option and all eight of his numbers popped up for a $10,000 base win. The super bonus randomly generated for that game was X4, which boosted the win to $40,000.
Asked about his plans for his winnings, he said, “I’ve got four kids. They know I’m here,” but went on to say he might buy a new car.
He bought the ticket at the Shell gas station at 7514 Pulaski Highway in Rosedale, which receives a bonus of $400.
